A Pair of Arrests Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack
An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.
A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.
The arrests come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.
A three-year-old girl was among the injured in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been released.
Police detained a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault close to the location. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.
Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.
The assault - which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
